I find that when I look at Natal Charts, I look at the Shape/Aspect patterns first. Then the Ascendant Sign; I look for the planet that rules that Sign, by Sign and House. Then I start to explore where the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus are (house then Sign?) and so on. What do you guys do? Where do you start when you look at a Natal Chart ?

Not for any particular reason, but I tend to look at the personal planets first, especially Mercury. Then the Moon then the MC/IC and for some reason I always forget about the Ascendant until I look at all the rest of the houses (then everything else in no particular order). Though sometimes, before anything else I take a general look at the dominating elements too.

I look for stelliums first, which houses and signs (and their elements and modalities) are strongest in the chart to know the persons basic temperament then i look at sun, moon and ascendent and their major aspects

Am I the only one who doesn't find anything standing out first? I mean, the whole thing is noticeable and I don't usually find it easy to pick anything out. ^u^;

I think it's hella cool that every time I look at a Natal Chart, I end up like "Oh wow! Look at that! Oh, that's soo neat!" Which is why I was doing that thing on my askbox - only it got hella congested, so I'm taking a break ^-^"

I notice the ascendant first, then I find the sun and moon, and glance at the rest of the personal planets. Then I usually jump right into looking at the houses. I also think it really stands out when someone has a stellium, or lots of planets concentrated in certain houses, or lots of planets only on one side of the chart. I find planets in the houses most interesting, so that's what I really tend to put the most thought into first, and think about how they all affect each other.

I think the Houses are hella cool.

The angles draw my attention first. So, I'll see in which sign they fall and if there is any planet aspecting them. Then, I'll probably take a look at the angles' rulers, how they are aspected, etc. The personal planets should come next, ... And. Yeah. What element seem to be prominent draws my attention as well. I pay lots of attention to the houses as well but for some reason I like to stress on the houses in synastry, mostly.
