Hello friends,
I call for help, not for myself, but for someone else. They have been struggling for the last couple of years in terms of education and achievements, always having to face setbacks. This person has amazing ambitions and dreams, but is somehow blocked in achieving them. This person used to be very optimistic and light hearted, but has lost lust for life because of all of this.
I've tried interpreting their natal chart but realise it's too complicated for me.
Who can help out? Tips on north node and midheaven are especially welcome, and reasons why they're having trouble. Thank you in advance

I noticed a lot of oppositions between north node/midheaven/chiron/saturn I also noticed that the moon and north node are considered to be opposites even though it's Leo vs. Capricon

Hi, Franka. This chart is really interesting and what you said about this person is also interesting but I can't give you the typical info dump right now. But here's what's I noticed:
Education: 9th house --> There are no planets. I can't tell which house Sagittarius rules. Setbacks: Saturn Optimism: Jupiter r Achievements: 10th house/MC Passion: Mars r
Important Planets and Other Placements:
Chiron r (the wounded warrior) is in the 10th house Moon is the 10th house Jupiter r is in the 10th house The MC is in Cancer Mars r in the 8th house
Saturn in the 3rd house (?) in Capricorn The stellium in the 3rd (?) house
Part of Fortune in the 4th (?) house in Aquarius Vertex (I'm really glad you included this because it's like the North Node) in the 7th house in Taurus North Node in the 4th (?) house in Capricorn (this sign naturally rules the 10th house so I think this is really important to note)
I think all these planets, planetoids, and parts are extremely important, especially how they make aspects to each other. (Not to mention how a couple are retrograde.) But I also think the MC is also important, perhaps even more so because the North Node AND Saturn are in opposition to it like you've pointed out.
So until tomorrow or Saturday I'll give you more info.

So I have some astrology books. I don't know if they're all that helpful but here's what I have until tomorrow:
Sun in Sagittarius
You seek the deeper meaning of life. With the Sun in free-spirited Sagittarius you are on a quest for understanding. The challenge is to keep this quest focused and grounded. So often Sagittarius aims arrows it knows not where. The karmic key is the recognition that one has to live the questions before one can find them.
The Quest For Meaning
In Sagittarius the soul asks "Why are we here?" It seeks to know the broader purpose of life. You are on a search for meaning and shallow answers are not for you. Although you may seek your answers in books or philosophies, you will come to recolonize that you have to live your questions first. You learn by doing. Having found answers, you have to synthesize them into a vision of life that you can live. It is no longer a question of striving to be something, you simply have to Be. A deep connection to the Self links you into eternal and universal knowledge, a knowledge that takes you far beyond mere intellectual understanding.
At the same time, you are challenged to keep yourself focused and grounded. It is a Sagittarian trait to let arrows fly without selecting the target. They aim high, they fall far and wide, but their energy is scattered. You could spend all you time chasing ideas--the eternal student. But the task is to pass on you knowledge to others. Having understood the meaning of life, you must share it.
Ethical Standards
Sagittarius is connected to ethics and the law. On the whole, Sagittarius uphold the law--if they think it is just. However, there can be a side to Sagittarius that is, if not outright dishonest, tempted to be liberal with the law. Many of the world's best comment were Sagittarians and this could be an aspect of your past life that you wish to heal. Prone to exaggeration, you can weave a magical vision of what could be. Others are tempted to follow and your integrity may be challenged. Your ruler Jupiter pushes you to take risks, to cut corners. At the same time, you may find yourself telling other people how to live ethnically--but not practicing it yourself. Part of your task in the present life is to live your ethics. These may be unconventional, and will undoubtedly value personal freedom and rights of the individual, but you are also setting a standard for the whole. A trap for the unwary is that you can be so bent on personal freedom that you transgress other people's rights, and do not even notice. If you cannot live in a way that sets an example, encompassing eternal values, then you lose something of yourself. Guided by the Self, you create a pathway of evolution for your soul.
Reconnecting To The Spirit
Spirit is the creative life force at the universal level. Sagittarius has a religious urge but may confused conventional religion with spirituality. Your challenge is to find your own connection to spirit. You may go directly through God (or the supreme being or life force) or you may seek an intermediary. Finding a route you can trust is important to you. Along the way you may explore some beguiling side roads, but you will always come back to the main highway. Avoid the temptation to become the guru for someone else's search, as it will take you from your own path. If you have to teach, teach by example.
Karmic Lessons
Sagittarius has to integrate the instincts with the rational mind and then imbue the whole with the divine spark. You have been on a quest for meaning, searching through many lives. Now, having explored all possible philosophies, you have to find a way to simply Be, to live in the flow, following divine inspiration.
Karmic Strengths
As a fire sign you have an intuitive connection to the spiritual world. Your open and questing mind is a powerful resource. You can integrate many different aspects of knowledge and come to true knowing.
Karmic Goal
To understand the real meaning of life--and live it.

The Mars: Mars shows how assertive the soul will be in pursuing goals and objective. It describes experiences with war and aggression in the past, with lust for conquest, and how the drive toward self-preservation manifests.
How well will and power have been handled, and whether the soul has learned assertion skills or aggressive tendencies, its indicated by outer planet contacts. Assertiveness is an asset whereas aggression can pull back the soul into old battles. Whether the soul expects to be able to use its will is shown in these aspects; old powerlessness and helplessness can dis-empower the soul, for instance, while past life willfulness needs to be balanced out.
The Chiron: Chiron shows where the soul carries a karmic wound, where we wound ourselves, where we are wounded by and the wound by others. It is where the soul must heal and shows energies that must be integrated...Chiron is the key to resolving the paradox and wounds of past lives.
In the chart, Chiron indicates where renunciation may be required, where opposites and paradoxes have to be reconnected, where integration is needed, and where the soul must give up its suffering. This planet indicates the soul’s wound that has been carried from life to life but it is also where the soul must heal.
The 8th House: Is powerfully karmic, but its significance can be hard to judge as it keeps its secret hidden.
Chiron in Cancer/Fourth House
The wound is emotional. The effect may be psychosomatic illness. Healing comes in emotional detachment and in nurturing one's Self.
Chiron in Capricorn/Tenth House
The skeletal system may carry a wound from the past and previous life authoritarianism can make itself felt. Healing comes in finding inner authority. (149 Hall)
Chiron-Mars
With this combination the soul has experienced a deep wounding of the will. The soul may have tried to assert itself and been punished, it may have endured imprisonment, a parent or master may have aggressively asserted their will, or conditions may have caused the soul to feel that it was hopeless. The expectation is that any attempt to assert the Self, or to will something into being, will fail or be blocked by someone else. The task now is to heal this wounding, to assert the Self, to rediscover how to manifest what the will desires, and to take back power into the Self. (96 Hall)
The Saturn: It shows karmic burdens and responsibilities, where it is necessary to overcome limitations and to transcend the boundaries of what has been possible up to now. This planet shows karmic wisdom and indicated the karmic lessons the soul must master through life.
The 3rd House: Indicates both communication and sibling karma.
Saturn in Gemini/Third House
The lesson is about communication and this placement often signifies an old block on communicating clearly. Fear and insecurity may create physical impediments. The soul must learn to express itself clearly.
Saturn in Capricorn/Tenth House
Saturn feels at home in Capricorn but may well symbolize an overly developed sense of responsibility and adherence to authority. There may also be a debilitating fear of failure. This placement takes on responsibility for society and may well act as a collective scapegoat. The karmic less is to find one's own inner authority and to act under the direction of the Self. (86-87 Hall)
The 4th and 10th Houses: This is the parental axis of the chart. It shows karma with parents and expectations around parenting. When outer planets are placed in these houses, they also describe the karmic contact with the parents.
The fourth-tenth house axis of the chart shows karma with the family, and the type of family interaction into which the soul expects to incarnate. “Heavy” planets such as Saturn or Pluto indicate difficult karma, “easy” planets such as Jupiter indicate the expectation of good parenting […] When the Sun or Moon are in the karmic twelfth house, the incarnation with the parent signified is old and deed.
The Moon’s Nodes: Indicate the karmic purpose of the incarnation soul, what that soul has been through in the past. The North Node is a challenge to break new ground and to grow out of the South Node, which indicates what is known and comfortable.
The North Node points to the path the soul must take on the present stage of evolution, the South Node to all that has gone before. The Nodes are the indicators of karmic purpose, a challenge to integrate opposites and to grow.
The North Node is where the soul must follow its destiny, the so-far untraveled way. It is the potential for the present life, the karma that can be sown for the future. Through the North Node, the soul takes responsibility got its own actions, moving harmony with karmic purpose.
The South Node is what has been sown, the karma of the past. It indicates survival strategies that have served the soul well in the past. The soul is comfortable with the South Node because it is known so well. The soul retreats there when challenged, and it would be wrong to move the soul totally into the North Node without taking all that is good and useful of the South Node along too. But there are aspects of the South Node that need to be eliminated.
North Node in Cancer/Fourth House
The task for this soul is nurturing and emotional give-and-take. This is the Node that has to act as social worker to the zodiac. The task is to parent beyond the immediate famil, to nurture in the widest possible way, but without exhausting oneself in the process. Inner strengths can be used to support the Self, and to take responsiblity for one's Self and one's family. With the Node in the Fourth House, the purpose the soul may be dealing with karma through the family, the karmic purpose may involve the family, or there may be previous interaction with the family that can be harnessed toward the soul's growth. The Cancer-Capricorn nodal axis has the purpose of uniting male and female, masculine and feminine, anime and animus, god and goddess within the one soul. This is an enormous evolutionary jump toward wholeness and reunification with the divine.
Karmic purpose: To nurture oneself and others.
North Node in Capricorn/Tenth House
The soul's task is to develop both inner and outer authority for itself. Rather than relying on teachers or authority figures from the past, the soul now has to direct the course of life from the Self. It is moving into the world of self-sufficiency and achievement. This is a placement that needs to find success through a career (the Tenth House). Once a secure foundation has been established in the material world, the soul moves on to develop spiritual strength. The soul with the Capricorn Node may well have incarnated with a task to complete for humanity, or feeling that it carries a burden on behalf of humanity.
Karmic purpose: To develop inner and outer authority. (115-116 Hall)

Jupiter in the Tenth House
Lucky with Profession Connecting with people in authority helps you achieve career success.
You values success. You are likely to be lucky in achieving prominence in your career, and tend to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right contacts. If Jupiter receives favorable aspects, you have leadership potential and get along well with people in positions of authority who may become mentors and help you to achieve status and recognition. You, in turn, are generous in helping others when you are in a position of authority. Ethics play a large role in business decisions.
If Jupiter receives unfavorable aspects, you can be lucky for a while. However, if you promise more than deliver, whether through over-optimism or blatant exaggeration, reversals of fortune occur. You must be careful to have integrity.
Joyce Says: Traits to treasure: The value you place on success. To transform: Make sure business dealings are conducted with integrity. (146 Levine)
Mars in the Eighth House
Action Geared Toward Desires Intense desires propel you toward going after whatever you want
You have a powerful sex drive and tend toward emotional intensity. A satisfying sex life is of prime importance. A strong nature gives you stamina in going after what you want, whether it is sex, money, or anything else. You are willing to sacrifice a great deal in order to accomplish goals. Being intense and possibly compulsive makes it difficult to detach and reevaluate situations once you set upon a course of action. If you have made a positive choice, you achieve goals well beyond reasonable expectations. If you have made a poor choice, results can be destructive. Learning to step back and reevaluate is essential.
Mars in this house also gives the potential for conflict over finances. It is possible that you and your spouse do not agree on spending or that your spouse controls the money. It is also possible to have difficulties over inheritances.
Joyce Says: Traits to treasure: Your powerful drive for accomplishment. To transform: Avoid acting out of compulsions. (130-131 Levine)
Moon in the Tenth House
Sensitive About Career Emotions are invested in your professional reputation, success, and status
Your emotions are tied to professional ambitions, public standing, and family relations. Prominence and professional recognition are priorities. There are strong emotional ties to family and a desire for their approval as well as the approval of other authority figures. How you feel greatly influences career potential, which makes it important that you do not react to people and situations in an overly sensitive manner. Women my help you get ahead.
You possess an intuitive sense about social, political, or business trends, and public charisma assists you in taking advantage of and influencing these trends.
Joyce Says: Traits to treasure: Your intuitive ability to sense trends To transform: Avoid tying your emotional well-being to praise from authority figures. (75 Levine)
Saturn in Capricorn
Career Responsibility Lessons in your life come through responsibility and use of authority.
Saturn rules the sign of Capricorn, so this is a very strong placement. Both Saturn and Capricorn stands for rules, order, discipline, work, success, authority, and achievement. Both are traditional and conservative. The lessons of your age group have to do with the right use of authority. You respect those in authority and believe in working hard in order to achieve positions of power, prestige, and authority. Yet an underlying fear of not being successful enough may cause you to judge yourself harshly. No matter what you success quotient, you are likely to believe that you should be at the next level. You are also expect others to achieve by their own efforts, and it is possible for you to be callous toward those you deem as not doing enough to help themselves. It is important to learn the difference between constructive and destructive forms of criticism of both yourself and others. Success is regarded in traditional terms, and you are likely to be comfortable in a Fortune-500 company than in a start-up venture. Careers associated with Saturn in Capricorn include traditional business in general, corporate executives, chief financial officers, chief executive officers, economists, chiropractors, religious leaders, engineers, government officials, political leaders, real estate, and medicine.
Joyce Says: Traits to treasure: Serious concern for success To transform: Let go of rigid professional standards (155-156 Levine)
Saturn in the Third House
Pragmatic Thinking Your thinking is practical, and you put effort into learning
You are mentally disciplined and have the capacity for deep concentration. Effort goes into learning. Thinking is serious, methodical, and pragmatic, and ideas are judged according to their workability. Speech is measured and deliberate.
Yet despite intellectual prowess, you are likely to be afraid that you are not smart enough. This fear may manifest in one of two ways. Either it pushes you to study hard to become knowledgeable and thereby prove your ure and the fear of it. As a child, difficulty in adjusting to school may have added to inherent intellectual fears. It is important to remember that fears are not realities unless you act in ways that make them so.
This placement promotes worry and causes you to look for what can go wrong in a situation. This provides the ability to anticipate problems and resolve them before they manifest. Negative, gloomy thinking may cause you to miss opportunities, or at the very least, spend a lot of time worrying about things that never become problems. It is important to distinguish between pragmatism and pessimism.
This placement can also cause difficulties with, or responsibility for, siblings.
Joyce Says: Traits to treasure: Your critical thinking To transform: Avoid letting fears about intelligence get in the way of learning. (159 Levine)

@lailanights17
This has been a theme in their life, whereas in their teen life they sought enlightenment and purpose outside the material world, in their twenties it shifted towards the opposite: the actual material world, so money, wealth, success (very much 2nd and 10th house, north node in capricorn?)
I actually see a really old and outlived soul in this person, very articulate and philosophical.
They believed in spiritual life for a long time, but got discouraged because there were no results to be seen.
His interests went everywhere, and then they pursued interests, only to drop them a while later because of loss of interest or no success.
That's what they see themselves as.. A failure
I feel like they started the opposite way, first the spiritual development, then the material world
They are currently looking for a career in engineering
Charisma and articulateness are a plus
They are musicians and come from a creative family. But it is a little confusing that they should pursue spiritual goals rather than material ones. …Mind blowingly true

I've just realized that his stellium in the 3rd house are in opposition to the 9th house. Well, this is obvious but I've been getting into Vedic astrology lately and according to that system, planets in the house opposite another house will still oppose it. They also place a lot emphasis on planetary rulers and I just find it interesting that the planets in the 3rd house oppose his sun sign's ruling house. I'm pretty sure that also has some negative effects, especially with Saturn. Speaking of Saturn. Saturn is fear, restriction and the Lord of Karma on top of it all. In Vedic astrology this planet affects the first, third, eight, and tenth houses, but if it's in the 3rd house, like in his case, then it influences the third, fifth, ninth, and twelfth. Although Vedic astrology may move both his signs and house placements, I think this quote from a Vedic astrology site is interesting: The Moon is also opposing its ruling house which I'm sure is a bad sign too. So, all in all, I think that he needs to balance his material and spiritual sides. Saturn is telling him to be realistic, practical, and plan ahead while his Sun is telling him to travel, be the eternal student, and spiritual. But Saturn is karmic and wants hard work. So I think maybe once he's able to learn the lessons of Capricorn and Saturn he can or is suppose to develop a more down-to-earth spirituality that doesn't lead him to dead ends or giving up. That bolded part above seems to sum up the overall lesson he needs to learn, at least to me it does. Just some thoughts.

I have some good news Astrology has worked in his favour today. As you may know jupiter is in leo right now, it is in conjunct with his natal jupiter. He had a job interview today for a job he really wanted. It went so well that they hired him! He's now so happy that all negative and uncertain feelings are in the past. I'm so happy he got a break he really deserved it.

Yay! I'm glad! Outer planetary transits like that can lead to some interesting things. Hopefully this luck keeps up. It sounded like he was going through a lot. (Btw, I'll totally respond to your post on your chart some time this weekend. Oh! I like your new profile pic. )
